One of the tests of any franchise is how successful the movie is by itself. It shouldn't really need any prequel.
Meh, it's my feeling that Aliens and Terminator 2 were in many ways better than the first movies.
Terminator 3 was absolutely horrible and I wish I'd never seen it. The latest Indiana Jones remake was rape.
Rambo and Die Hard? Those franchises could have stayed single movies and been masterpieces.
Lord of the Rings isn't a bunch of movies, it's one ridiculously long movie. I'm not a dork, but it was well done.
And I agree with Will that the James Bond universe keeps on keepin' on. They've adapted to the times.
All the recent comic book movies have been really bad. I liked Spiderman, Punisher was okay. Rest sucked.
I'm not a purist and given that I'm a total sellout for action movies, I can appreciate even the crappiest films.
Arnold, Sly, Lundgren, Van Damme? Got all the DVDs at home. You can't beat '80s action tropes and idioms.
I mean, action movies are like pizza. Even when they're bad... they're still good. I love B flicks and cheese-corn.
