It's probably not a word that easily rolls off others' (or my own) tongue, but you are broadly definng alacrity: an enthusiam or eager willingness to experience/submit/try.
Gaeity, vim, or zeal, work as well. I'm not very good with analogies, but just commenting upon your opening posit of "similar to hedonism" -> e.g. with the likes of eye surgery... it's not just misleading; it's nearly entirely opposite of where you might want the reader to follow you. (I got it, but it's not hard to see where one might get lost.) If you are a person who wants/wishes to experience new & exciting things, one would describe this trait as a yearning.
