By this point I have half a dozen or so tabs - I go through each one responding or reading as it were, and when I'm done I'm down to the New Posts tab I opened earlier. If there's more than one page of new posts, I'll advance the page and go about it. If there isnt', I might re-run New Posts and check for any responses or close it and go about my business.
I also refuse to buy a mouse without the forward/back buttons under my thumb, because I got hooked on it around Y2K and now I can't bring myself to actually CLICK a back or forward button in my browser. It feels so laborious compared to clicking with my thumb. If I'm at someone's computer that doesn't have said mouse (THE HORRORS) I still use backspace for Back and just don't use Forward..

I agree. I bought a wireless combo keyboard/mouse a couple of years ago, I'll never go back to wires or a 3 button mouse. I have the predecessor to this bad boy and love it. I haven't hit the 'back' button on the browser since I got it.
