I have no problem with prostitution as a concept... paying for "services" is done in all other areas, why not for sex? In practice, the sex trade tends to be rife with abused women, disease, and drugs (as I understand it). On those grounds, I'm against it. But any woman (or man) who willingly decides that they want to rent their genitals or sexual abilities, and is a competent adult should be allowed to do so.
But personally, I've never been so driven for sex that I would be willing to pay someone for it. I may be an oddity, but sex with a complete stranger just doesn't do much for me in anything other than masturbatory fantasies. In fact, it strikes me as little more than a form of masturbation, and I can do that myself. I prefer (require?) at least some emotional content, even if the sex is just with a casual friend... at least there is some connection. So count me as a wine, dine, and hope vote.
