Last year, Grancey and I bought fishing licenses from our local Academy Sports store. We thought it would be a cool thing to do. In order to make the purchase at Customer Service, I had to give them my driver's license, and the girl took it and disappeared behind a computer screen for a few minutes. I didn't have to fill out anything, and the only information that APPEARS on my driver's license is my DL number, my DOB, the DL expiration date, my name and address, and my sex/height/weight/eyes/hair stuff.
She returned with a one-page printout containing my new fishing license and several lines of other identifying information that is NOT on my driver's license. This damn page listed my cell phone number and the last college degree I received. Where the fuck did they get that? What database do they tap into in order to issue a freakin' fishing license?
But here's the real kicker - ever since then, my Facebook page has been oddly suggesting that I join various fishing pages and organizations.
I guess my point is that no matter what you do, they've already got you.
