I finally dug into the context of this video when, about two weeks ago, I caught a glimpse of it on CNN.
Man, what a difference two weeks makes in terms of what I had initially thought of it, which was nothing at the time, to now, in which I still don't really care about it, though am slightly disturbed by the nature in which both sides of the spectrum support or spurn the "celebrated" routine.
As it was then, though, I still don't think much of this dance act. More to do with the parents or community center chaperons lack of decent sense and tilted morals for allowing and teaching such a thing (while not wrong, it is as others state, "crossing that invisible moral bounray", which leads straight down into "creepy central"). Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't rightly picture sub-10-year-old girls pitching for a routine like this, just because they saw it on the VH1, to their costume designers and pageant sponsors if they could try this out.
