the leftover video embedding websites.
What I was wondering, besides the obvious automatically embedding feature for youtube, what other sites are on that list that actually work properly?
I've noticed that if you post a specific image page for flickr, it will automatically embed into the post, but will look all wrong, with a black box stating "this video is no longer available on flickr"; and I'm sure that sites like video.google and metacafe embed, but I'm also more than overjoyed that those latter two sites also have a [tag] feature, so I've never really experimented to find out if a straight video link from either site embeds or not.
Furthermore, I read an explanation provided by Cynthetiq towards a question about vimeo videos asked by Shauk, and how that one website is harder to make workable tags for because some owners of videos disallow the embedding feature to work anywhere other than the original splash page where the video resides. It's kind of weird knowing that, but still, when you post a vimeo video link in a post, about a quarter of the time it actually embeds as a workable, clickable box for viewing, and all other times, it's a standard redirection link.
So, what I'd really like to come of this attention is just an initial listing of satellite sites I could use other than youtube for video embedding, and then perhaps later, with help and time, of course, maybe a few new [tags] to be implemented into the forum's capabilities. Would that be possible?
PS
This question and topic for garnering "video embedding trick" knowledge originally stemmed from last week, when I noticed that Dailymotion updated the way it displayed its videos on its site, and then in turn, I came to realize that their upgrade also affected the way their videos embedded on this forum, which is to say all the videos now just display as medium-sized blank white boxes.
