Well, certainly. In my case, I'd never listened to They Might Be Giants before the ex, and I will never listen to them again. They were "his" music. I have some mild associations with him and my music, but they've definitely faded a lot with time. The music I really love he could never ruin, like Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon", despite the fact we listened to that a lot together.
