BG, yes it is that good. Season 1 & 2 is a little slow and repetitive, but it does a decent job of getting the characters setup. If I remember correctly it gets really good around seasons 3-6.
It is nothing like the movie. Do not compare it to the movie at all. You can see some of the soul in the movie AFTER you've watched the series.
