Torchlight
For $20, this game is worth it. It is a single player only Diablo rehash. If you enjoyed Diablo, you'll appreciate the improvements that are made. The graphics are clean and cartoon-y, the itemization is familiar to modern RPGers, but with enough added complexity to make it interesting to learn. Also, even though you only choose from 3 different classes, the skills you choose for each class can dramatically change the way you play.
So far, I've only tried out 2 characters. My Alchemist is configured to work like a Necromancer from Diablo 2. Though, I feel like my approach early in the game (didn't know what I wanted to do) left me too spread out to be effective at higher levels (playing on hard mode). My Destroyer, on the other hand, tears through everything he touches because I maxed out a couple effective skills rather than going for utility. The only drawback is that I have gone almost 20 levels without finding an upgrade to some items, leaving me effective offensively, but vulnerable defensively.
This game improves upon Diablo in many ways. First, the pet system is great - you can equip your pet with a few items and spells, and even turn them into things to help you fight. If they get "killed" they actually just run around aimlessly until they regenerate enough health to rejoin the fight. Then, you can send them back into town to sell your inventory if you can live without them for 2 minutes, maximizing the amount of time you spend in the action.
There are many side dungeons and bonus levels, and your "fame" rating allows you to improve your character at more frequent intervals. The art is great, too.
I only takes up something like 850mb, so go for it if you're thinking about it.
