Ive seen alot different kinds of restore disks. Some wont format the HD, they just copy system files. They suck. Then their is the one that will format.
Restore disks dont normally ask for the key. But some do. Windows install disks will generally need a key.
A little more info, like brand, might help me give you more info then that.
If all else fails, a local PC shop will prolly do it for ya for less then 50 bucks. I have to recommend you help a lowly PC tech feed his family.
