I ran into your dilemma last year. I have a computer engineering degree - and like your degree in multimedia a lot of what I've learned became obsolete after spending four years in the Army. I looked at job sites and they all wanted experience (even the entry level ones!?!).
So I decided to go back to school for just one year and update my skill set. I studied photojournalism and new media and despite the abysmal state of newspapers these days, I still managed to land a job with one.
Now I don't know if going back to school is an option for you, but definitely consider it. Even if for a semester, you'll be more mature and possibly more determined than a lot of your peers and you'll get a lot of out it. I went back at 28, and landed a job after a year whereas graduates from the same program couldn't find work. It's all attitude and persistence, aka "How bad do you want it?" Don't be afraid to follow your dreams. I know it sounds cliche, but I had to change careers three times before I finally realized that. Good luck.
