I need a job!
Hey guys,
I'm kind of at a cross roads in my life right now. I've been pursuing professional baseball for the past 4 years but to no avail. I'm thinking about giving it up and looking for a career type job. The only problem right now is that I don't really know what I want to do. I grew up eating, sleeping, and breathing baseball. I did go to college and do have a bachelor's degree in Multimedia. Ideally I'd like to get a job doing something in the realm of sports, such as a job at ESPN or FOX Sports or something of that nature. Although none of those seem to be a possibility right now, I've been doing some research about careers in different fields such as the video game industry, sports marketing, sales (ugh), graphic design, and other corporate type jobs. I did some graphic design and web work during my Multimedia courses at school, but I'm 3 years removed and I know the industry right now is ridiculously lucrative and very competitive. Not to say that I don't think I can learn but I think companies right now are looking for experience, of which I don't have much. I'm currently working at a telecommunications company installing copper and fiber cabling. I guess I'm just looking for some advice on which way to go or any other ideas/suggestions. I'm tired of my current job and hell I'm willing to work at best buy or somewhere of that nature to get out of where I'm working. It's not that I hate it but I'm only making $10. It was a filler job while I was pursuing baseball last year but now I'm looking for a real job. Thanks guys!
