I love it, though I love to be the choker, more than the chokee.
I prefer to reach around and grab their throat when I'm doing them doggie style, and pull them up to me. I find that both like it best when you evenly spread the pressure out and keep the fingers almost flat from this position. You get a constant squeeze that way, not just a pinch from the thumb and fingertips.
And the safety word is always "I consent".
