Compare the worst SUV to the worst van and you'll get your answer. The Dodge Durango gets 12 mpg combined. The worst minivan (possibly your Town and Country) is probably going to be in the 20 mpg range.
You two don't get the same gas mileage. The T&C probably gets about 16/23 (depending on the year) and you probably get about 12/19.
