The Star Trek reboot has done quite well, in fact it's done about $240m so far. There's undoubtedly going to be a sequel in the next few years.
For the time being, this should be a speculation thread. Then, as details start to emerge we can shift towards the facts. Then reviews.
Star Trek II likely won't be a simple military/war movie, and hopefully it won't feature any time travel (ST: Enterprise and Lost show what happens when you overdo it). I want an adventure, maybe a race to get something or a good old fashioned science fiction mystery. Sure, have plenty of action, but there should be some Star Treky goodness. I loved The TNG episode "
The Chase", for example. It really picked up speed and it culminated in filling a massive plot hole while still being fun.
We know the screenwriters and actors are signed on for more, but JJ Abrams isn't necessarily going to jump on board. My hope is that he'll see that he has an opportunity not unlike Chris Nolan did with Batman to really make the ultimate sequel of the genre, but JJ's a busy guy.
Thoughts?
