There's a few recipes out there for snake bites.
The UK ones run along the lines Daval mentioned with cider/lager.
I found quite a few with only Jack and JD but this one seems close to what you are talking about...
Snake Bite
3 oz Jack Daniel's
1 oz Cointreau
1 oz lime cordial
1 In a old-fashioned glass combine ingredients and serve over ice.
