Red has brought this up from time to time in the past few years and has finally decided to take the plunge. He is growing his hair out for locks of love. The minimum length for acceptable hair is 10 inches, so it will be a while. His last cut was in November so I'm thinking summer of 2010. Since Red teaches at a college I thought it might be wise to give a heads up to his president and deans about what he wanted to do, and they were very supportive. The only problem right now is with other women. He has always caught admiring glances for his red hair. It really is a beautiful shade of red that is unavailable in a box. This past weekend, with it getting a little longer, I observed several women drooling as they gazed at his head. Some were old enough to be his mother! Red has always been the type to wash and go. But now, with longer "difficult to tame" locks I have had to introduce him to products and a hairdryer. He had never even used a hairdryer before. Before I came along he washed his hair with soap. It's been fun.
So, have any of you men grown your hair out specifically to donate? Did you make it or did you give up before it got long enough? Have any of the women donated your hair? I would love to do this, but I have fine, thin hair which is a definite no grow.
