The product you linked to is using the MAC CPU to do these tasks. I'm not sure the low voltage cpu of the Iphone could ever do this on the fly for more than say 1 hour. Even with an extra battery that would heat the CPU considerably since a DTV tuner monitors the other input feeds while displaying one. That means it's doing much more than simply decoding and playing a single file like the iphone does.
