Did a little cleaning to my machine over the past few weeks, finally went to put it back together so I could go play some games - and I get nothing on the screen
Motherboard turns on, system appears to POST, lights flash, everything - just no video. Oh yeah, video card fans are turning.
whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I'm going to try to swap cards with a friend just to double-check but I feel like it's bad news bears. If not, I guess it's the mobo. I've tried the usual stuff - disconnect everything in shifts, clear CMOS, blow on stuff, make sure the card is plugged in. Nothingness
Anyone have any recommendations? I'm a casual gamer but I play nothing more intense than CS:Source and Battlefield 1942 (probably BF2 soon) - not one for new games. I'm replacing a nifty XFX GeForce 6800XT that was pretty good. I'm not looking to spend too much. My mobo supports PCI Express x16 and I'm not sure if PCI Express x16 2.0 is compatible.
For what it's worth, I have $120 in Best Buy giftcard. Unfortunately, Best Buy's selection is not very good, and everything is overpriced. At least it's "free" and I really have nothing better to spend it on. Unfortunately, a lot of the cards are PCI Express x16 2.0
*sigh*
