Personally, I think we ought to start by taking whatever small steps we can take. While it's fine and dandy to speculate about the technology we will have, we also ought to focus on what we can do in the meantime, like riding a bicycle, walking, or taking public transporation when feasible, and using the car only when necessary. like to have an electric vehicle and a solar panel array at home to power it, but at the moment that's not economically feasible for me, so I do what I can with what I have. That means driving less.
