Tilted Book Swap
Some time ago I joined PaperBackSwap on the recommendation of a friend. Initially, I thought it was a great idea. Unload books I've read and don't want and replace them with books that I do want. And I also like the altruistic aspect of sharing something you have with someone else who wants/needs it. But lately I have become disenchanted with the process. Namely, it seems like the site is a bit too geared toward extracting a profit at any possible step. And the cost of just shipping one book at a time is really quite high at $2.23. So the only entity really making out from the process is the USPS. I think that for that amount of money, you'd be better off going to a used book store anyway.
It got me to thinking that perhaps some of the readers on here would be interested in setting up a Tilted book swap. I figured that we could each post a list of books that we currently own and we could browse each others selections to see if we can arrange to mail each other a small box of titles.
I don't have my bookshelf in front of me, but I can update this post with the books I have right now that I'd be willing to trade.
So, how about it? Any other members interested in doing some swapping?
