Well, I would get cramps worse than normal even though I wasn't actually getting a period- and I would (at least once a week) take the ring out while in the shower to clean and it would have what appeared to be a string of blood attached to it or when I go pee something similar would come out- not big, but noticable. It's not uncommon- it can be harmful if it's extreme. But the ring can tend to give you heavier periods anyways and so for me, maybe, in switching the ring out right away instead of giving a week for my period, it would confuse my body- I dunno. Hope that helps.
And, LEVITE- My question is Why does she trust condoms over IUD's? If she's never had kids, she would be fine with the non-hormonal copper IUD. I am getting it in a couple weeks (but my Dr. recommended the hormonal one as I have had a kid)- and it's actually more preventive and safer than a condom. Just a thought. It sounds as if it would be wise if you guys talked about other options and she speaks with her dr. about it.
