I recommend extreme research. While there is the region codes to be concerned about, if the DVD is also encoded in PAL it will look funny on your NTSC screen. You can find for a little more money a DVD player that also will do the PAL/NTSC conversion.
I believe I have the Toshiba SD-770 in the bedroom or at least one of the "familiy" members. PQ is excellent especially when PAL discs are used.
