Best Region-Free DVD Player?
So, I got my Phantasm collection (yes, the one in the ) and unfortunately the discs are Region 2 and I only have Region 1 players. Any suggestions on a player so I can partake in my winnings?
I'm looking at the Philips DVP642/37, but I'm not 100% yet. I'm looking for something to last, because there are many more DVDs I'l like to own that aren't Region 1 or 0.

We've had that DVD played for two years now and it still works flawlessly. There's a region unlock code for it that will...well....unlock it.

Is there a blu-ray version in a multi-media player (usb, etc)?

Region Free DVD Player Multi region blu-ray bluray dvd players code free
I recommend extreme research. While there is the region codes to be concerned about, if the DVD is also encoded in PAL it will look funny on your NTSC screen. You can find for a little more money a DVD player that also will do the PAL/NTSC conversion. I believe I have the Toshiba SD-770 in the bedroom or at least one of the "familiy" members. PQ is excellent especially when PAL discs are used.

Just for a totally different solution to your problem. You could get the stuff to copy and remove all the copy protection and region codes. SlySoft Products | Copy Movie DVDs with AnyDVD and CloneDVD Thats the stuff i use. I dont have a problem with region codes but its worked perfectly to copy every dvd i have tried and then will play in any dvd player. At least that way you wouldnt be limited to what dvd player you get. Never hurts to have a extra copy of a movie handy. Let the DVD set stay in its case and watch the copy. let the copy get scratched up or whatever. Just need clone dvd and anydvd or anydvd hd if you want to copy the hd dvds and blue ray stuff at some point down the line.
At the very least if you have a computer with a dvd burner that is you can download the free trial of the software and make copies of what you have now to try it. works for three weeks before you have to pay. Plenty of time to make a copy of what you have now and test it out to see if it would solve your problem. AT about 25 cents for a blank dvd its a cheap way to solve a annoying problem. Cant let annoying stuff keeping you from watching that creepy tall man with his killer midgets. If you want really high quality blank dvds try these.
