I'm sure it's due to licensing BS.
I personally haven't enjoyed the series as much since GT2 due to supercars being the only type of cars in the game.
GT2 seemed funner because you got to buy a $10k shitcan and then mod it out and put turbokits on them to make them fast. You got good with your own car and competed against the supercars using your sleeper. You even got to put decals and bodykits on your car and see how the engine was modified.
It feels like something is missing from the latest GTs and I think it's a lack of "regular" cars that GT2 had. The series still has awesome controls and tracks and graphics but I think they took out one of the best aspects of the series since 2. Racing with supercars just isn't the same.
