The Scirocco was introduced in 1974 (1975 US) and was replaced by Corrado in late 80's early '90. It was based on the Golf/Rabbit chassis but little else did it have in common with the Golf/Rabbit. It was a compact sports car, with amazing performance and handling.

PS: The Corrado name was just publishity-stunt as it is logically just a new model of the Scirooco since the Corrado is also based on the Golf chassis
