You know Bacchanal, it's funny that while Cattle Decapitation started all this "gore not core" nonsense, they still are very much so and always have a been a grindcore band. Well there's that and the fact that they tour almost exclusively with hardcore bands simply because "hardcore kids buy merch."
Lord knows I've probably a few of their kids through college already.
And as for the topic at hand, I'm really surprised this thread hasn't garnered any more responses - I remember the tfp being bit more eclectic. But in any case, grindcore is pretty much where it's at. Perhaps it's just the bands that I listen to but I have yet to hear any other genre in which so much creative license is taken.
New bands like Nyia and Car Bomb are finding smart and inventive ways to expound upon the genre blending habits of Cephalic Carnage and The Dillinger Escape Plan (to name a few) while bands like Pig Destroyer and Converge push the envelope that much further with their every release.
