Would you trust your child to be around one? Or any child for that matter. I wouldn't, and don't. Joe citizen does need to have one of these dogs "doing it's job".

Let me correct what I meant.
the two dogs spoken of 'did their job', not the whole breed. unfortunately most are trained to kill for 'their job' and some really will have to be destroyed.
however, as stated before, if you do research on their genetics and know they've not been taught aggressive qualities I would trust the dog with my kids. Also note, however, I am reluctant to leave a child with any animal or dog due to them getting hurt accidently and i'd really, really stress to NOT leave a small child with an animal. The kid will be protected and he won't go where he shouldn't, but the kid could be easily trampled, also.

Do we require all dog owners to be licensed? Actually that might not be such a bad idea...I'll have to ponder that one for awhile. Or do we simply require that the owners of predetermined breeds to be licensed? What possible need, barring perhaps Law Enforcement or the military, does anyone need with an animal like this? Get a Dachsund.

Well, for the sake of both animals and people, sure. License all dogs.

Also, in as much as I believe in the right of all Americans to own/carry firearms, that does not mean to say that I think that you should be able to posess an assault rifle with armour piercing ammunition. I hunt, and deer don't wear kevlar. Same principle here. You want a gun/dog, fine by me. But, limits need to be set on what is available to you. Not to protect you...but to protect me, and my family. I want to feel safe walking down the sidewalk, without the fear of the possibility of having my throat ripped out.

good point..... but it has no bearing whatsoever on anything i said. I explained a simple metaphor I created. I will not explain this fact again.
and as a cruel smile comes across my face i think.
ahhhhhhh. it seems the hunter is scared of being hunted...
its is good we are agreeing.
it is sad that the majority of the citizens of the US choose to remain ignorant..
