Alright WhoaitsZ, I see where you are coming from, and we're almost in agreement.
But, as you yourself say "but they were made that way. they were doing 'their job'" . That tells me that these animals were bred to be nothing but brutal vicious killers. Would you trust your child to be around one? Or any child for that matter. I wouldn't, and don't. Joe citizen does need to have one of these dogs "doing it's job".
Do we require all dog owners to be licensed? Actually that might not be such a bad idea...I'll have to ponder that one for awhile. Or do we simply require that the owners of predetermined breeds to be licensed? What possible need, barring perhaps Law Enforcement or the military, does anyone need with an animal like this? Get a Dachsund.
Also, in as much as I believe in the right of all Americans to own/carry firearms, that does not mean to say that I think that you should be able to posess an assault rifle with armour piercing ammunition. I hunt, and deer don't wear kevlar. Same principle here. You want a gun/dog, fine by me. But, limits need to be set on what is available to you. Not to protect you...but to protect me, and my family. I want to feel safe walking down the sidewalk, without the fear of the possibility of having my throat ripped out.
