I tend to take batteries out unless I'm using them. I've gotten very long life from my batteries by doing such things.
I don't know if the battery 100% charge and the heat is the problem or if it is just overcharging and causing lower life.
Again, I take the battery out of the unit when it's plugged into the wall. Sometimes I forget when I'm going to move from my bedroom to the sofa.
