From others in their "civilized" world, she's deformed and will likely have complications or die.
Who is right?
Does belief dictate reality?
Does belief in the former insure her health and vitality?
Does believing the latter doom this child?
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
