True, but it took reading 'The Game' and looking into a little bit of 'PUA literature' for me to realise how simple the answer is. Before I'd got half way through that book it was blindingly obvious where I was going wrong, and I realised I'd been consciously suppressing the kind of behaviour that it teaches since I was 14 (I'm 21 now). Before reading the book I'd just try to be as nice as possible to girls and try to be the perfect match for them, offering to help them in all kinds of ways, trying to win their approval, then I'd wonder why I ended up with them as a best friend and nothing more.
I started University and went an entire semester with absolutely no girl action whatsoever, then read 'the game' over Christmas and made out with a girl on my first night back, and things have just got better for me from there onwards.
I never use any 'techniques' or stuff I learnt in any PUA material. If anything, it just demonstrated the basics of human interraction, and showed me (like you said) that coming accross genuine, confident, funny and in control the situation will make you very attractive to girls.
