Actually, it is.
The reference from Texas is very pertinent.
Obviously, no state is three times the size of Texas, as Texas is the biggest state. (Alaska maybe?).
But, the distance between the east and west tips of Texas is 900 miles (El Paso to Hemphill). What do you think the distance is between Pickering, and all the land west of Pickering in Canada? Well, what's 3 x the size of Texas? Yup, the distance between Pickering and Vancouver BC is 2700 miles, or, three times the size of Texas.
Pickering is Springfield
Ever see the episode where Homer is building an outdoor grill, but he drops the instructions in the mud? When he pulls the instructions out, only one side is readable - the side with the FRENCH instructions. Sounds awfully Canadian to me.
And Marge Bouvier? The name is clearly French. Homer Simpson? The name is clearly English. And what is Canada, if not a dysfunctional, but workable, union between the English and the French?

The book is quite different from the website. The website just lists a few of the key references, and a bit of extra information about the Canadian links to the show.
The book on the other hand is about who the author met that told him this information, and how all of these little things came to the author's attention.
