The Simpsons are Canadian?

I found a website by Cameron Mckenzie, who wrote a book on all the different reasons why Spingfield is really in Pickering Ontario. Check out the similarities section. http://www.scja.com/thesimpsons/wher...ealspringfield

They missed the joke in Mr. Burns' middle name. Though it is interesting that their nuclear plant is on Montgomery Street.

I've driven through Pickering many times. In fact, when I lived in Oshawa I had the dubious distinction of living nearly equidistant from two different nuclear power plants, one of which was the Pickering plant.

Can't say I ever made that particular connection, but then the layer of dust on my television screen may provide some clues as to why.

EDIT -

Immediately west of Pickering is Toronto. And according to Torontonians, the answer to that question is yes.

hehe. This is a fun series of coincidences. Why would people buy the book, though?

Actually, it is.

The reference from Texas is very pertinent.

Obviously, no state is three times the size of Texas, as Texas is the biggest state. (Alaska maybe?).

But, the distance between the east and west tips of Texas is 900 miles (El Paso to Hemphill). What do you think the distance is between Pickering, and all the land west of Pickering in Canada? Well, what's 3 x the size of Texas? Yup, the distance between Pickering and Vancouver BC is 2700 miles, or, three times the size of Texas.

Pickering is Springfield

Ever see the episode where Homer is building an outdoor grill, but he drops the instructions in the mud? When he pulls the instructions out, only one side is readable - the side with the FRENCH instructions. Sounds awfully Canadian to me.

And Marge Bouvier? The name is clearly French. Homer Simpson? The name is clearly English. And what is Canada, if not a dysfunctional, but workable, union between the English and the French?

The book is quite different from the website. The website just lists a few of the key references, and a bit of extra information about the Canadian links to the show.

The book on the other hand is about who the author met that told him this information, and how all of these little things came to the author's attention.

No puppets, don't worry...

I'm the webmaster for the site. I saw the extra traffic coming from this site so I thought I'd participate. Don't let me spoil "spillblood's" long standing reputation on the board.

(Guy Incognito is actually Homer Simpson's doppleganger. )
