While I don't know anything about these surveys-at-home deals, I will say that this statement is not altogether true.

Take Avon, for example, a perfectly legitimate company, that charges a fee when you sign up to be a rep.

Also there are a great many businesses that require you to PAY for a uniform in order to work there. There are also many companies that you have to PAY to join a union to work there.

And if you are planning on opening a franchise of a business, you better plan on PAYing a whole bunch of money up front.
