Hows about shutting Azureus, Outlook and Firefox (just for a start).
Then, I'd suggest getting a few numbers. You can see memory use in ye olde windows Task Manager. Although it doesn't show much initially, it has an option to add more columns (very important that bit). Alternatively - if you like seeing what is going on, the program "ProcessExplorer" from
www.sysinternals.com is great. They're owned by M$ now, but it's still a favourite of mine.
