The Palestinians hold democratic elections. I'm not sure why you'd say "the one democracy in the area". Lebanon and Egypt are democracies, too. They're Arab, though, so I can see why you wouldn't want to equate their democracies to Israel. Call it political relativism based on racial favoritism and possibly racism.
