That layered interleaved hooking you did on the first one, with the gradiated background to give it more dynamic life is pretty cool. The second one is very confident.
I have always been told to be careful of overly symmetric or centred compositions, so if you do a series of the second perhaps you could find ways of offsetting the hand field. Maybe adjusting it's perimeter to be more fluid, and responsive to the hand shape. I could see using hand position and fluid boundaries to play with the energy within the entire composition.
