I agree with those of you who are for stricter control of these animals...
Dogs of certain breeds were bred for very specific reasons and were NOT originally intended to be kept as house pets.
I think it's ridiculous that stronger controls haven't been placed on the ownership of such breeds. You can't have say, a mountain lion, as a pet in a residential area for a reason... a very good reason i might add...
the same should go for Pitt Bulls and other dangerous breeds.
