Make sure all your files are in DivX format (commonly, it's the .avi extension), otherwise it won't read them. Also, some DVD players have trouble reading large volumes of data, so keep it simple. If you have an MP3 player, copy some movies onto it and see if that will work. I've used my iPod to watch .avi movies from my PC through my DVD player via USB.
