Originally known as Treasure Island Z, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure is an all new adventure game in the vein of Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island exclusively for the Wii. The titular characters are members of a group of pirates called the Sea Rabbits, and are shot down over the island where the fabled pirate Barbaros hid his vast riches. After finding his golden skull in a chest, they learn that he has been cursed and his body turned into various pieces and spread throughout the island. In return for reassembling his body, he promises them his fabled pirate ship.

When this first came out (Oct 23), I had completely overlooked it. I was never really big into the point and click adventure genre, but I caught wind of it from some people on the internet hyping it up, and I decided to give it a spin.
From the get-go I was surprised about how good it is. Great humor, Pure puzzle solving, no real combat in the convention sense. Its a two button game, theres the pointer which you use to select things, and the cancel button, and thats it.
Interacting with items requires a motion depending on the item and circumstance. So in the classic adventure game, you would just click USE key on door, for instance. In Zack & Wiki, you would have to hold the remote as if it were a key and actually put it in and twist it the right way.
Gameplay video (It was hard to find one that wasnt just a promo trailer, but I think this one is a good example of what actually happens in-game).
Despite its kiddy looking visuals, it actually gets really hard, and would probably eat most kids alive. Its eases you into the dificulty though, its not hard at the start. Theres also an optional system of getting hints and reviving you if you die, if things get too hard for you. It hurts your score though, so I never use it.
Its only $39.99 too. Can be enjoyed by anyone.
