yes martian, I have a couple questions.
what you told me to do in the post worked great.
I hooked it up the way you said, and for almost 4 days everything was fine.
And then, I tried to sign onto one of the laptops with the wireless connection, and it would not let me. nor the other one. Also the main computer would not let me make a connection either.
The only way I could, or can, connect with the roadrunner, is to disconnect the wireless router, and connect the modem directly to my computer.
I contacted "live help" from Roadrunner, but they honestly gave me the runaround.
In the "diagnosing problem" feature at the Roadrunner site, it says to disconnect the router, and connect the Ethernet cord directly to the computer, it states, "you will be able to reconnect the router after establishing connection"....however when the connection is established, it makes no mention of connecting the router.
I got in touch with "live help" from roadrunner again, and I wish I could post the transcript, it is laughable.
She told me to use a device like a router to connect multiple computers.
I told her I tried that.
She said she is here to assist me further.
Then she tells me she does not have the resources to help me further.
I said, so you can't help me?
she said
"Our connectivity specialists will need to address this issue as they
possess the resources required to assist you further. "
I am at a loss.
