I can't give any information on AT&T specifically, but I can say that your router should be fine. They'll install a box in your home that will convert the signal for use on an ethernet cable. AT&T may or may not forbid use of a router in their ToS, however, so you'll want to either clear that with them ahead of time or just pull the router while the tech's doing the install.
The service is getting good reviews at dslreports.com, so that's positive.
