It isn't a *bad* pistol. However, IMHO, it isn't the best pistol out there for the job, and it has some serious drawbacks:
1: It is bulky and cumbersome. It is very wide across the grips, which isn't really necessary considering it only holds 15 rounds. My hand simply doesn't fit comfortably.
2: Horrible safety. It isn't really even a safety, just a decocker that can accidentally be left on, preventing you from being able to shoot. It also works opposite most handgun safeties, and is hard to manipulate with one hand, being small and slide mounted.
3: Horrendous double action trigger pull.
4: The berretta continually breaks on us. It is a rising locking block action, and the locking block really is a weak point....they break all the time. It is easily fixed, if you happen to have an extra locking block on hand, but it doesn't inspire confidence when 4 out of 10 berrettas crap out during a range week. Granted, we ask a lot of our weapons, but they are supposed to be able to handle the abuse. Oh, have also seen a slide crack in two and blow past a shooters face.
Everybody I work with prefers Glock. They are ugly, but they don't have a safety/decocker to screw with, nor a double action/single action transition, and they seem to work reliably.
