Do you keep beer/liquor at home? If so, there's always "would you like to come to my place, I don't charge nearly as much for drinks as they do here". and then give a nice grin so she knows you're joking.
Seriously, I once told a friend to do that and he didn't smile, he said it with no humor in his voice at all. Not surprisingly, it didn't work. lol
