american english is not an animate being--it cannot be intelligent or not or anything else like that.
it is a medium.
it is the people who use it who are either intelligent or otherwise.
some folk say that unintentional anthropomorphisms are an indication of something.
they never tell me what though.
i can only speculate.
you don't want that.
