What do you need it to do? Are you going to use it out of the vehicle as well. Do you know what various systems are capable of? Camping or hiking on your activity list. The problem is once you find out what the dang things are capable of, you then realise what you should have bought. Going into a gps systems website, is an option; but not half as revealing as getting hold of one in your paws and seeing to believe. If you are seriously wanting to make an informed purchase, spend time on a unit, or just get your girlfriend a tom tom and find out what it is capable of, after the fact. Is she tech: minded? most systems are pretty user-friendly, and will get you there. Some even have blue-tooth phone linkage capabilities. Go look, see, and do end up giving it to her. It gets harder to part with, the better you get to know the unit. I think in your country, 600 will get you quite a serious piece.
Good-luck.
