I also think that having a high quality pair of headphones and a separate mic is the way to go. For games, I like headphones that completely cover the ears becuase this helps prevent a lot of outside noise without forcing you to spend hundreds on noise reduction technology. Since you'll be using them to watch movies and play games, you can go with the biggest, goofiest ones at the store without worrying. My headphones are from AKG, model K.44. My mic is generic 10 dollar desk mic. Both work well. If you're convinced that you want a complete setup sitting on your head, I can't help you.
