HeadSet for PC
hey everyone! I'm looking for a good Headset to go with my computer. I'm mostly gonna be using it with gtalk but i want good quality for the output so i can use em as headphones when i want to play games or listen to movies at night.
Right now, the one i have is a labtec from almost 10years ago. So it's time for a change. Price isn't really a problem but i'd like to stay under 100$. hopefully we can get some great reviews in this thread!

Personally, I found a good, trusty pair of headphones, and a good, trusty desk mic are the best. I went through years of headsets where the mic would die and the phones would still work or vice versa, rendering the whole thing useless, pretty much. Now if one component fails, I can replace it on the cheap. Plus I can buy the comfiest headset I like without worrying, and at some point, I could even invest in a nice mic which would have use elsewhere.
ATM my setup includes a pair of Supramax headphones (30+ years old according to my dad, has 3.5mm jack!), and one of those generic desk mics clipped up between my monitors. System works very well |

that's true. I think i'd still like to have the whole setup on my head. I'm not violent with my technology so that 1 headset i have went from my dad to my brother to me in over 10 years. they still look new. So i'm thinking the tech on headset should only be better now. I still might buy a kickass mic that can also plug in my camera for future use.
Anyone else have something to say?

I also think that having a high quality pair of headphones and a separate mic is the way to go. For games, I like headphones that completely cover the ears becuase this helps prevent a lot of outside noise without forcing you to spend hundreds on noise reduction technology. Since you'll be using them to watch movies and play games, you can go with the biggest, goofiest ones at the store without worrying. My headphones are from AKG, model K.44. My mic is generic 10 dollar desk mic. Both work well. If you're convinced that you want a complete setup sitting on your head, I can't help you.

I have to agree with the seperate desk mic and good headphones. I have a $8 labtec mic i got from newegg.com sits about three feet away from my head and noone has ever had any trouble understanding me. leaves me free to use whatever headphones im in the mood for at the time.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836111208 Thats the mic i use its dirt cheap and has been hanging from a lamp next to my moniter for about a year and a half and been working flawlessly. No reason to deal with having a mic right next to your face. Better off spending money on some good quality headphones then a headset. |
